In 1868 the Granny Smith apple was discovered in Australia. It’s named after Maria Ann Smith, who found this tree from a chance seedling.

The skin of the Granny Smith apple is bright green and speckled with faint white spots. Round in shape, they are a juicy and firm apple with thick skin. The flesh is crisp in texture, bright white with a tart, acidic, yet subtly sweet flavor.
