Peppers-Shishito

Shishito peppers are a favorite appetizer notable for being relatively mild, but a particular pod will pack some heat every so often.

The pods are small green peppers of somewhat vibrant color. They are slender, growing 3-4 inches in length. Wrinkly and with thin walls, these peppers make ideal appetizers.

Cooking with Shishito Peppers

Common methods for cooking with shishito peppers include grilling them or searing them in oil in a cast-iron pan. Dash them with a bit of sea salt and some salty cheese or creme fraiche. They do make for wonderful starters or appetizers.

They are also famous for battering and frying, and stuffing with soft cheeses.
