Mizuna is one of those leafy green vegetables that many people haven’t tried. Yet it’s a great addition to any meal and easy to use. Mizuna is an Asian green that is often found in lettuce mixes. Still, we provide bunches of this beautiful green to our customers. It’s a mild-tasting green that can be enjoyed cooked or raw.
Here are our favorite quick and simple ways to use Mizuna.
- Salad – Wash and chop the leaves into bite-size pieces. Mix with lettuce or any greens (arugula or spinach).
- Risotto – Another Italian inspired use for mizuna! Stir cleaned and chopped and mizuna into a batch of risotto at the end of cooking. It will wilt perfectly. Try pairing with mushrooms for an earthy dish.
- Pasta – Even Asian greens can be tossed with pasta and fresh parmesan.
- Stir-fry – Asian greens are perfect for stir-fry! Pair with any vegetables in your Harvest2U delivery, lots of garlic and ginger, and your protein (optional).
- Soup – Feel free to toss them into any vegetable soup at the end of cooking. Mizuna would also pair great with chicken noodle or lightly creamy soups.
- Sauté – The simplest is last! Wash mizuna and then toss in a pan with garlic and olive oil. Leave whole like in this side to local pork chops or chop into bite-size pieces.
